I see in your pics you use ones similar to mine. My problem is that my gex have a hard time figuring out there's water in there, even when I sink it into the substrate and/or drop their fet in the water. How did yours figure it out?

I have no idea how they figured it out. I guess they just explored around and found it *shrug*. I use the custard dishes and shallow ashtrays (new and never used!) for the adults and smaller lids for the juvies/hatchlings. Instead of burying it maybe try to put it up higher, my geckos like to climb up and down things.

ill try to put one up one the shelf. I've seen a few try to climb through the side. I use 5 cent custard dishes and such from goodwill. The size is much better than the commercial ones. Im sure they must be drinking, but I've never seen more than 3 (out of 9) actually caught in the act.
FYI: they seem to like the colored ones better? I have a green one everybody likes
