Feeding Question

Triad Nov 02, 2004 08:27 AM

Hades eats all his greens and crix everytime I feed him (crix 1 time every week).

Is there anything else I can give him to make him get fatter and grow longer?

His greens are a mixed salad of endive, escarole, peas and green beans, custard and mustard greens.

Is baby food only supposed to be given when the animal is sick or can that be fed occassionally?

How about apple sauce?

Why do you only feed crickets once a week? How many crickets are you feeding? I feed my adults two bowls of greens, 4-5 silk worms and about 20 crickets to chase around (small crickets) everyday. When I feed the larger crickets it's every other day.

Hades doesn't love crickets but he will eat them. He likes waxworms better but I know they can be addictive (they are for leopard geckos' but I'm not sure about that with bearded's).

I give him waxes about 3 times a week and crickets once.

He's about 1 yr and 7 months old. He loved crickets when he was growing up but now he's more of a green pea and salad kinda bearded.

I give him about 15 crickets on the day he gets them. Then the next day (since we have a tank to put leftover crickets in) he usually gets about 15 more ( I only count this as 1 time a week since I only had to buy the crix 1 time).

He gets fluker pellets, endive, escarle, mustard and collard greens, green beans and green peas as a salad ( I guess the fluker pellets would count as the croutons of the salad). Then later I'll give him either cricketts (left over or for the first time) or wax worms.

I do this every day since I give waxies 3 times a week so its like this MWF-waxies, TTH-crix.

I can up the amount of crix if necessary. But he doesn't love them as much as he loves his greens. He sort of just sits there and looks at them and is like where's my salad?

Adults should get 80% veggies & 20% protein. I just started with the large crickets again (no more silkies) and they are getting about 7-9 a day now. Like I said I was giving about 20 1/4" crickets because they were getting silkies and I wanted them to still hunt but not gain a lot of weight. So sorry to confuse you by my post on that.

It's ok. Hades will hunt, but he loves his veggies more then anything. Especially green beans, he loves being hand fed those more then anything in the world.

I gave a lot of crickets while he was growing up like you are supposed to. I guess he just likes greens more then things that move.
