dumb Newbie Question

Snakemother Nov 02, 2004 09:10 AM

I've always kept kingsnakes, but my daughter now has 2 ball pythons. She would like to have them both out on her body at the same time while she does education shows with me. I'm leery about this because I'm so used to the kingsnakes-can't-be-together thing, but she says they're not like kings.
Would it be okay to have them both out together? Even if they come in direct contact with each other? Is there any "getting used to each other" stuff I should do with them first? The male is about 2/3 the size of the female.
Thanks in advance for your responses - I'm just a bit nervous and new to ball pythons. But they're both eating and healthy!

They should be perfectly fine together. We take a few of ours out at the same time and never have any problems. They shouldn't need to get used to each other either.

Should be just fine.
As long as you have had them both long enough to be certain they are both healthy.(You dont want one to possibly make the other sick).

Zero issues taking these pics

I would not house them together. Educational shows?

Yeah, we go to schools and all sorts of events to talk to kids and adults about snakes. The kids are always very interested, and come up with great questions. My daughter and I do it in the hopes of saving a couple wild snakes from being automatically killed at first sight in someone's backyard.
Thanks for your help!

I LOVE that pic! I have the habit of always looking for my "favorite" snake in a group pic - can't do it with this one, my eye keeps getting pulled to another great looking snake. That pic really illustrates for me how different each ball python can be - thanks! And thanks for your help; that pic really also shows how docile they are with each other.
