Is cervical seperation applicable to FUZZIES?

AbsoluteRae Nov 02, 2004 01:17 PM

The reptile shop I buy my feeders from doesn't usually have frozen food on hand unless you call ahead. So, for the few times that I pick live mice up (I'm still on fuzzies for my corn) how should I kill these pups? I want to freeze them, but I didn't think that just sticking them in the freezer was very humane. On the other hand, they seem too small for cervical seperation. Suggestions?

for pinkies and fuzzies give them a few HARD flicks on the head with your finger and they will be knocked out. then put them in indidvidual sandwhich baggies and freeze, make sure to keep them in their own bag though or else their death will be slower.

just freeze them. seriously. they go into hibernation and then freeze. i froze some newborn pinks last night. less than 2 minutes they were frozen.
they're so small they freeze fast.

i fed my emory's a few live pinks. nothing gets them eating faster than a live pink.

You say about freezing them without stunning of killing them, then consider this:

How would you like to feel the sheer pain of feeling your kidneys etc freezing within your body????

I don't think you would like it, so I flick them hard or if they are big enough use the swing and whack technique.

I know what you mean by the phrase, but if cervical cancer means a woman has cancer in her uterus, then cervical seperation sounds like a hysterectomy. Is that really the right word?

I think there meaning separation of the cervical vertebrae

LoL That's one of the funniest things I've ever heard. Indeed I meant a seperation of the cervical spine, snapping the spinal cord.
