Thank you everyone - Can you recommend a good online store?

TwoFemaleRES Nov 02, 2004 06:56 PM

Thank you everyone for all the detailed information below on the basic set up for my two large female RES turtles. I really appreciate you taking so much time to respond on this hectic election day.

Now that I have an idea of what to look for can anyone recommend a good online store to buy RES items (basking platform/ock, tank, heater, filter, etc.)? Hopefully someone here has discovered a place that has really good prices. I am anxious to get these turtles set up in style over here. I feel bad that they are just in plastic tubs =0(

Also - if anyone has information on which brand and model is THE BEST filter. I need a SUPER BIG POWERFUL ONE THAT IS EASY TO CLEAN.

Thanks!

Abby

Fluval filters are in my opinion, the best filters to use.

I have looked for a good online site myself and you might be better off goin to the pet store and ordering something there or being creative and putting stuff together. Online shops can be cheap but the shipping usually makes up for the deal. But thats just my experience living in Alaska.

Try bigalsonline.com they have the best prices, much better than a pet store. I love my Fluval 404, but there are other options, I have never tried anything else.

I love my filistar XP3 canister filter. I am not sure if it's better than the Fluval 404 but it's still a great filter.

I am going to check out the fluval filters ASAP. I also found that EBay has those turtle docks at a pretty good price.

If you are talking about the turtle dock with the suction cups, I am not sure this would be the best option for you. I assume from your name that you have 2 RES's. The turtle dock is made of a foam and that's how it floats. If two big RES's try to bask on it, it might sink and they won't get totally dry. Of course you can try it and I don't have RES's so I don't know for sure. Maybe someone with more than one RES can help you better.
I also posted in your other post about the two filters. I added another filter for you to look into.
