Tricia's website has some good info and care sheets. For the most part you can apply the general care for green waterdragons to Australians. The basic difference are the the Australians are more weather resistant, they can take temperatures down to -10c. Some people in the south keep them in outdoor terrarium all year round. Many claim that they have better temperments and on average they probably do. I say on average, because green waterdragon temperments vary considerably. As far as cage size is conserned both species have territories in the wild as big as a square mile, so the bigger the cage the better. I think that the Australian males are more tolerant of each other and less territorial as well.

Yes, I have three, one male and two female chinese green waterdragons. My male I have had for almost 16 years. I have had the females about five years, all are petstore rescues. One came from another breeder and I believe that she is as old as my male if not older. They are fantastic pets, I don't think you'll go wrong, whether you get a Chinese or an Australian, the're both great.

Right now they have their own room. Waterdragons are probably one of the few lizards that you can have free roaming. Set up an incandecent lamp or two hanging from the ceiling, A filter pond and plenty of ficus trees and they are happy. You also have to make sure the room is secure and there aren't any places they can wedge themselves into.

Their humidity requirements are the same 60-80%. How much of an issue humdity is, depends largely on were you live. If you live some place very dry like Arizona then it's a constant concern. Where I live on the east coast, too much humidity is usually the problem, here when you supply your waterdragon with a large enough water area for them to soak in, you end up with a humidity that exceeds 80%. In my waterdragons room I have a wetland filter setup that contains about 20 gallons of water, and I have to keep a dehumidifier running to deal with excess humdity or else the paint starts peeling from the walls.
