Hi there,

Nice to know there are Malaysians here. I'm in KL too. I don't have a big collection, I just own a 6-month old ig that I bought in April this year, a 2-year old ig that I adopted a few weeks ago, and a baby Ball Python, I think he's about 5-6 months old now.

About the incubator, I'm just curious, can it be used for fertile iguana eggs too?

Hi there

Yes it can as this will be my 3 rd season using it on my iguana eggs in fact i hav jus put in 26 iguana eggs mid october
i hav hatch out Quail,Chicken ,Duck , goose, iguana ,tortoise, turtle eggs in the same incubator

But as usual reptiles eggs need to be incubated in a plastic container filled wif moist sphagnum moss ,perlite or vermelite n the eggs half or 2/3 burried in the substrate ,the container wif the lid on n a few holes on top to allow exchange of air to be put inside the incubator wif a constant temperature (28 - 32 )should be good for most reptiles eggs

The key to reptile egg incubating is HUMIDITY and constant 28-32 oC temperature .

hi there just want to know how cheap is cheap the incubator, the brand? can it fit blood python egg?tq very much for the help

emutiong Nov 10, 2004 05:26 PM

I am not sure of the price now as i got it second hand while i was studying in Australia 5 yrs ago for AUD$50 . The incubator can fit like 4 - 6 Tupperware container and up to 16 Iguana or tortoise eggs per container .As python's eggs is larger than Iguana's eggs so i think 8 - 10 python eggs per container should be no problem. So i think minimum 8 X 4 =32 or 10 X 6 = 60 per incubator.

hi there tq verymuch for the info, i will try to save some money to buy it later.but my python mate today.i just donno how long does it takes for the egg to come out. any idea?

Hi there
That I have no idea but with food ,water n enough heat they should develop very fast n should be laid in a month or two (guessing)
One of my Iguana is fussy about the laying area last year n retain the eggs for 7 months before laying (from date of mating) As the eggs are laid in the feeding dish n some got eaten by the Male .I notice embryo moving inside. So the actual time from mating to laying is a mystery.

Hi there

Why not make ur own incubator ??? jus use a glass tank fill wif enough water to cover Aquarium heater to heat water to 28 - 32 oC (30 best)put the whole glass tank in Styrofoam box to keep temp.constant.
Then as usual tupperware fill wif moist Moss ,perlite or vermilite..... eggs 2/3 burried ....... keep temp constant 30 oC .

Can try out as the bellsouth is made of styrofoam , the Hova incubator i saw in US wedsite also made form the white thingy.
I try B4 but result not so good maybe the heat source (Aquarium heater) not trusty.
