Narrowed it Down

pdm Nov 03, 2004 09:01 AM

I have been researching & have narrowed it down to the crested, african fat-tailed & the helmeted Gecko. I want to get one of these 3 species. I want to get one that isnt stressed by handling nor is shy & affraid of people. Does anyone know which of the above 3 fit that criteria?

Thanks,

Paul

From what I've read the AFT's probably your best bet.

I'd try and find some reptile conventions in your area. There's one in Pomona, CA. later this month.
A Leopard gecko would be the best choice and there are dozens of different patterns and color variations to choose from.

Ok so your saying that the leopard gecko is more docile & not as skittish as the african fat tailed is?

AFT's are more docile than leos, generally speaking. The only real difference in husbandry is that you need to watch the humidity levels a little more closely for AFT's than for leos. Both are great geckos, leos tend to be a little less expensive and more readily available.

Yes, The fat tails can be a little nippy as well.
