new salmon arrived...one question...

tigerlilie2 Nov 03, 2004 10:43 AM

Okay I just got a new Salmon boa a week ago. He's very cute and has ALOT of color to him. But, my question is, is how do you get a constipated snake to poo? He's gone a bit already 10 grams worth for his small 127gram body twice this last week, but you can still see he's a bit blocked near his tail. Almost looks like and feels like he swallowed a couple marbles. The person who sold him to me said he hadn't gone (poo) for nearly 1 1/2 months. Do I just wait patiently or do I soak him everyday in warm water? I think it'll correct itself since he's already gone twice this week since I've had him, but would like anyones input or experience. I've really never experienced this with any of my animals before. Is this caused from dehydration or lack or care from the previous owner?

~Thank you, Andrea

P.S. Or maybe I'm just being a worrying mom

Here he is...pic makes him look really big, but he's just a baby still and growing (132grams today). He darkened up alot in this pic I'm guessing from the stress of posing for the camera. LoL. Like someone mentioned in a post earlier they really do change colors! He lightened up to a nice cream color now that he's settled in and getting used to being handled. I have fed him early this morning a small fuzzy mouse. He downed it pretty quick although the previous owner fed live a couple times, and this was a frozen thawed.

Do salmons get pinker as they get older?
