More questions~ and pics!

I really appreciate all the help y'all have given me (here and in e-mail) Thanks all!

I've thought of a few more questions~ and I have some pics. First~ here he is~ what a handsome fellow isn't he? No wonder I've fallen in love and find myself putting so much work and effort into a pet I didn't even want! (I think hubby somehow KNEW I would wind up doing all the work!)

I weighed him on Monday just before feeding him three fairly small pinkies (which he gobbled down like he was starving!) He was 144 grams empty. I understand I should feed him every-other day~ but how much food? Is there a percentage of his body weight I should shoot for? I don't want to starve him~ but I have an obese cat, and an obese dog (and me and hubby are pretty heavy too!) so apparently I tend to overfeed when unsure!

I put together his enclosure and would like to move him into it. I understand he will be growing and this enclosure will only be good for about the first year right? (it's about 4' long, 2' tall~ only about 12" wide)

That is a heat lamp on the left hand side over some climbing branches and a full spectrum light on the right. I read that he may not need full spectrum~ but that it might be a good idea while he is a juvenile. I imagine I am going to have a problem up keeping the humidity with the screen lids and both lights~ but I don't want to cover the screen and create a fire hazard with the lights so I am thinking I will just have to mist liberally and daily.

It's hard to see in the pics~ but the water dish is in the middle~ and there is a hide UNDER the substrate (read here to use a piece of plywood as a nice flat hide~ I propped the plywood with some rocks) on both the cool and warm sides~ as well as the hide on top of the dirt on the cool side and the climbing branches on the warm side.

So what do y'all think? Can I move him into his new home or do I need to remodel?

Thanks for the help!

It looks ok to me, but it matters more what your monitor says.
Put him in it and watch him he may like it as is or decide to tell you to remodel.

You may find you need to change the screen top or atleast cover a portion of it. You can use plexiglass, tin foil, even suran wrap. Just leave the area with the light screen and cover the rest.

I feed my young ones daily or as needed, my sub adults every other day or as needed, my adults every 3 days or as needed.

By the looks of yours he could use the feeding and definatly the humidity. Keep up the good work that your doing.

Jody is right, you will lose humidity in that setup that they will need desperatly... Cover it lose the screen. I keep my pair outside.
Good Luck,
Robert
