I've been using the $3.95/50lb bags of washed playsand from Home Depot. I did try the TRU sand, and thought it to be incredibly dusty, especially compared to Home Depot's. Just thought I'd share.

Too bad, I don't think it would still be "a deal" if I ran over to milwaukee evertime I needed sand

Thanks for the info. I got the sand from Home Depot. Cost me 6 bucks for 100lbs of sand. My uro is so happy right now.
I appreciate all your help.

I used to use a strainer. Recently I found something at petsmart that is just metal mesh on a wire handle, it works fabulously, and could probably be made, but for $4 it was much easier to buy.

I have also tried fish nets, but the holes are generally much too small. They used to sell scoops to clean kitty litter that were grids instead of slots, and that worked fairly well also, though I have been unable to find one of them for quite some time.

Hope that is somewhat useful!

If you mean when you first get it.Put it in a deep pan or bucket.Run fairly warm water into it and slowly swirl the sand with your hand the dust will float up to to top and run out.Keep doing this until the water is clear. You can put the sand on a cookie sheet and dry it in the oven.If you mean after its been in the cage.It will clump up and you can scoop it out with a plastic fork.
