Vitamin C content in Fruits and veggies

tc5000 Nov 03, 2004 11:33 AM

There has been a lot of talk lately about poor sheds and the need for vitamin C. I found some information that may be helpful to all the Tegus out there. It looks like Guava, Green Kiwi, Papaya and Persimmon in that order would be the top 4 that should be the easiest to find. Brussels Sprouts and Sweet Potato look pretty good as well. I mention these two because my Tegu has eaten Green Beans and Potatoes right off my plate once when I was eating on the floor. So I'm sure he would eat Brussels Sprouts and Sweet Potato especially if they where on my plate when I was eating.

Red ripe sweet pepper (one, medium size)....226 mg
Broccoli, cooked....................................................58 mg
Brussels sprouts....................................................48 mg
Sweet potato, baked..............................................25 mg
Cabbage, shredded, raw......................................16 mg
Watercress, chopped............................................15 mg
