Anyone use heat tape?

tim5580 Nov 03, 2004 09:53 PM

Anyone use heat tape or heat rope as the heat for their leos? I am going to build a 2 story cage, and would enclose the heat tape between the 2 levels. It is hard to explain, see the picture for a little better idea.

God only knows.... they could certaintly use it.

I have used heat tape in a rack-like application for my leos. There are two things I would worry about with your design.
1) heat rises, so it would seem that the top half would be a lot warmer than the bottom.
2) the leos on the bottom would not have any belly heat which may have an effect on digestion.

If the leos are free to move from level to level it seems like it would work.

LOL I forgot heat rises and didn't think of that. There is going to be a passageway between the two levels. I am building it myself so maybe I can run the tape down around the bottom too. I'm glad I was reminded of that now, instead of after I build it (but I might have remembered).
