sleepy walter

jeune18 Nov 03, 2004 10:15 PM

well now that walter lives alone ( ), he really does not wake up. i guess before he would at least hear milly and he would wake up for a little while. i am too afraid to formally brumate him and i would not trust someone while i am out of town for winterbreak to handle his brumation. anyway i guess my question is, should i just continue to do everything normally and turn his lights on and whatnot and just let him decide what he wants to do or should i wake him up every morning? he did the same thing last winter but being inexperienced i thought he was just lazy and i always woke him up

hydrated, I think I would just let him do his own thing.

He will let ya know if he wants to get up or not.

I have some who just go into brumation all by themselves even with the lights on.

yeah he is a beefy boy. he weighed 46 grams or maybe 48 and has had no problems. he is such a gentle boy. i feel bad he is living alone. anyway i drip water on one side of the rock where he sleeps so they can choose to have moisture or not. should i still throw a few crickets in there every couple days? he was eating voraciously and then stopped once he got lazy and now eats like 1 cricket. mills usually ate all the crickets in their cage. today has been a really hard milly day.
i guess i will let him sleep. he had a productive summer, ha ha

IF, he gets up to bask I would put one or two in, but if hes not getting up or heated up I would not.

** He will not digest them properly anyway if hes cool.

Are you looking for a girl for him?

i just did not want to starve the poor boy. i will try to keep an eye out today to see if he wakes up and then this weekend i will do the same thing. i am going to wait on the girlfriend just because i have the egg and if it hatches and it is a girl i may just let her live with kaiser and let ivan live with walter. if the egg is a boy then i will just wait a little longer and get the boy and walter girlfriends. all of this in due time, as the egg will be living alone at first
