Anyone else have these green looking brooksi?

bluerosy Nov 03, 2004 11:33 PM

I have a het hypo brooksi female that is green and has no hints of red in it.
I did not think anything special of her until I bred her to my hypo male brooks. The babys all came out just like the mother but more intense green with green and NO red. I just took a couple snapshots of her today while I was was taking pics of something else so I forgot to get pics of one of her offspring babies. I will post them later.

Anyway it never occured to me if this was different or not.

Does anyone else have greenish looking brooksi or has seen any like this?

Yeah, I have a decent sized normal male that has a green appearance, I keep trying to tell myself it is yellow, but to no avail. it is still a very neat appearance. A gentleman formerly of Rochester NY named Dick Deuel bred brooksi for a number of years and some of his offspring had that green color as adults. Also some of the 2x het ghost adults that I have seen have the same thing. Howie S. saw some of my 2x hets at Daytona a few years ago, he said that was a common trait in brooks back in the day.
This is a so-so close up of my male from Mr Deuel, I don't think the pic does justice but he has the green. Keep working with it, can you imagine a white side green brooks...maybe, maybe not.

Why are they so expensive in Belgium? And what are they worth over there?

Do brooksi (floridana) even exist in peoples collections?

What other species that are common in the US market are expensive over there? Morphs ect? What is popular in colubrids?

Questions, questions It's great to have someone across the globe comminicate here with us!

While this one is kinda washed out from the flash you can see some greenish color. I have described many of my FL kings as being "green". This line has red though and produces some very high red offspring. My most greenish one is in shed of course.

That mahogany you have looks identical to one of my het Peanut Butter females. I don't have a pic handy but will get one just to compare.
