motley lavenders?

kingofspades Nov 04, 2004 03:11 PM

i heard motley lavenders are selling for like $1000 each. is this true?

i am buying a pair of anery stripes, het for motley and ghost friday.
if i bred the male anery stripe(hett motley) to a lavender female, would their offspring be het motley as well?

not sure how the motley genes and such transfer.

that would be nice though. snakes het lav. and motley..sell them for $500 each.
i can dream right?

Yes, they have sold for that much in the recent past, but I would be shocked if they will do so again anytime soon. The market simply will not bear those initially high prices for very long.

The fact is that all breeders basically create their own competition whenever they make their sales of their babies. So, when a new morph is uncovered, it behooves the breeder that discovered it to be as fiscally smart in his sales as he can be, because in two years, his own customers will be undercutting him with "the grandkids."

As time progresses and people buy the cheaper animals het for the necessary traits, even more people create the right mxture to be sold. Within a few years, the market has been sufficiently watered down to where even the most spectacular morphs are priced where they should stay for a while (usually about $150, give or take $50).

But yes, you can certainly dream about creating motley lavs, and the method you described will produce the hets necessary to do so. However, in the midst of all that dreaming, don't forget to wake up and smell the coffee...corn breeding is NOT a terribly good way to make your fortune!

If you breed a striped corn to a normal paterned corn not het for motley or stripe you should get all het stripes. If your snake is 0 stripe it is not het motley.
motleys het for lavender have been sold by one of the top breeders in the country for $400 . I wouldn't expect anywhere near that for double hets. When you are selling hets for high end animals it might be harder for you if people don't know your reputation they may be skeptical.
