pale hypo pyro

rtdunham Nov 04, 2004 04:01 PM

here's a more recent pic of one of the odd pale hypo pyros i hatched earlier in the summer. still washed out in the red, not just the "black" rings like you'd expect from a hypomelanistic. It'll be interesting to see what these turn out to be.

Terry-
How does the hypo pyro you have shown compare to the hypoerythristic as far as reduction in red?

I'll try to get some current pix up here soon. in the meantime, here are a couple older pix.

this is one of my two baby hypoerythristic pyros with a normal. the baby (a small yearling now) looks darker in the pic than when i checked him out a few minutes ago.

and here's a pic of the adult with a normal. he seems a little darker on inspection than in this pic, but only slightly. he was an adult when this photo was taken two years ago.

the difference between the baby hypoerythristics and the adult right now, i'd best describe the babies as having a little more "purply-chocolate" suggestion in the "red rings, while the father has a little more "pinkish orange" suggestion in them. Sorry i don't have a side-by-side to share right now, i figured these were better than nothing.
as for the comparison to the pale hypomelanistic, the pale hypomels seem just shades of orangeish-tan, no pink hint and no chocolate hint. again, eventually i'll get a pic showing all of them up here.
peace

Hi terry,
Nice pic, shows the colors well. I'll try to get some pics of the your female "pale hypo" soon, but as for what they6 are, well they have to BHB hypos right..?, but just on a different level as the extrem hypos in hondos, thsoe very different looking hypos come from normal hypos, so thats probably the case here I bet these "pale" looking BHb hypos are just very different looking than say some of the darker BHB hypos that have been seen before. If Mark petros reads this, do you still have the pic of the BHB hypo het-albino you produced last year..?, it was a pic of it and a normal het-hypo baby togetehr, but that was another "pale"looking hypos, even more so on the red-orange bands than the dark bands, i didnt really pay attention at first to the red-orange abnds, but was looking for that crem coffe color of the sentz hypo pyros in the dark bands, thats why i thought they were so different from each other, but now I like them both as they have unique looks to both of them, makes you wonder if a sentz hypo and BHB bred-(and lest say the babys came out normal=double hets), then mayeb the double morph of a sentz hypo x BHB "pale" hypo would be a snake with very pale looking rd-orange bands and the coffe color dark bands of sentz hypos..?, would be a very neat looking snake though, thats forsure. Anyways terry, thansk for the pics, its good to see a mtn.king on the forums again, you see them but the its gone so fast from other post.
