Demonfrog -- pics you wanted

phwyvern Nov 04, 2004 07:53 PM

Demonfrog...

Here are the lastest batch of pics you've been asking me to get for you. I finally got tired of waiting for a nice sunny day outside and just took some indoors in my office today. This is after the 3rd shed since I got the little bugger back in July.

Is it as yellow as it looks in the pics?

Yes it really is that yellow. With each shed the colors keep getting brighter.

As for what morph....beats the heck out of me. It was originally sold to me as a 'golden okeetee' and stated to be a pure corn not a jungle hybrid. However, I have seen some other baby corns at a few shows after the one I got mine from where other vendors had some looking almost identical to mine but were being sold as jungle corns. It makes me wonder if I didn't get stuck with a hybrid afterall (whether intentional or not on the part of the breeder).

Especially if it isn't a hybrid. Guess you'll find out in a few years.

If that animal is pure corn and not the result of kingsnake being added into "the mix" somewhere down the line, I would be VERY surprised! I would almost guarantee you that it is a hybrid, but there is just no way to know for certain without DNA testing. Sorry that it looks as though you didn't get what you paid for, but that's what seems to be happening more and more these days.

I feel a hybrid breeder's responsibility rant coming on here, but I'll refrain....

He's looking good wyv, glad you got around to taking pics, though looking at his head i have to agree that i don't think he is pure corn, but he's a great looking snake and looks like he's a great pet.

P.S. those are really good pics

I've pretty much managed to burst my own bubble already with each shed and resigned myself. Been trying to do scale counts to help confirm it but that isn't getting me anywhere fast right now because the sheds are just too small to work with easily. The only real telling point I have right now it seems is the anal plate is single not divided.

Overall, even if it is a jungle I didn't get ripped on price - it was comparable to other jungle hatchlings....but it would have been nice to have actually found a pure corn with jungle corn looks but not the bloodlines. I do like the odd colors of jungles if not fully comfortable with the make-up of the animals.
