Check out this "Normal" BP!!

chainsaw Nov 04, 2004 09:54 PM

LOL!! I'm sure someone will try and tell me that this one is a normal, too!! Anyway, this male was bred by a good friend of mine.He was produced from 2 different kind's of Woma's....I've been calling him a "tiger" Woma, but a name hasn't been settled on yet! I love this guy,but what an attitude!!Imagine the worst WC african rock you've ever seen, and then shrink it down to baby BP size!LOL!! Thank's for looking.

just a good looking normal colored/phased ball python......

ok...tiger and woma balls have the name used already...

tiger and womas are banded....

yours is not really banded.....

it is pretty patterned(reminds me of one of my het amels)....and it is pretty colored......

but it is normal

I'd buy these for color and even pattern......but not as tiger-woma-super-duper thingies....

,,,,,,,yep......me

Yup,and a spider is just a nice patterned ball, and a pastel is just a nice colored ball, and a ghost is just a faded ball!Someone else posted one just like mine a while back as a "woma",don't remember that one being "normal"! Here's another normal BP!LOL!!

CJBianco Nov 05, 2004 10:22 AM

I don't know. I think it looks like a very interesting Normal(?). It's definitely not any sort of Tiger. Tigers have plenty of bands. Yours does not. Tigers also are reduced pattern. Yours isn't really all that reduced. Tigers also have a sort of two-tone only look about them, as the bands sorta bleed into the background. Yours doesn't do that. I'd say it's not a Tiger, but it definitely is worth breeding out to see what happens. Good luck! =)

I wont get into whether that is a normal or not..it looks nice and I hope it makes nice babies. But that pastel is great looking...is it an amazing pastel or a super? The blushing on the head is awesome and looks like most supers...it just does not seem to have the lightest body thats why I ask. I have seen supers than look worse if that is a normal pastel. Nice animal

PristinePythons Nov 05, 2004 11:55 AM

To start off that's a beautiful ball python! I also Love the fiesty ones! Well.... now to break out the needle! That's FAR from a woma ball python. 99% of the tigers and bandeds are just normals with a different pattern. 3 lines are proven that I know of. Ralph davis, Boaboy and Corey Woods-nicest imo! Anyways those are Completely different then Womas! I'd have to look into their genetics but I remember them producing some sick (looking - this is good!) animals! Jolliff sells tigers or womas too....

they are all nice.....and yes...some of the ""big" (cough) "breeders" sell them for like up to $4000 each......

they are banded....they are proven....they are still NORMALS...

what makes them worth $4000 each?.....

nothing.....people are just so damn stupid to begin with...they buy into a dumb dream....

then they too lose money.......

duh......

........
.........as I said....people agree....yours has no bands.......

Joliff just has reduced pattern axanthics. His line seems to be banded. Womas are totally different! I don't care enough to look into the genetics right now (at work). But I remember them being bred to something produced something real nice! Just can't remember what it was! Grrr...anyways that's my input. And yes there are genetic lines of banded animals and reduced pattern. Genetic? or Co-dom still shouldn't cost 5k for a pretty much normal looking animal with a different pattern. The spiders are something totally different alltogether!

I think Woma is the het and Pearl is the homozygous phenotype for a single gene (not a combination). I don't know if the Pearl's have been proven viable yet (you should probably assume everything isn't until proven otherwise). As long as the Woma is healthy there is no reason it can't be an interesting morph in the het form to combine with other morphs regardless of the status of the Pearl. Spiders are immensely popular without a homozygous form yet proven.

Thanks! The father comes from the same line that produced the NERD lemon's.I sold them all as plain old Pastel Jungles, since the father isn't a Lemon. As far as the other pic, that baby was produced from a male "woma" purchased by a friend of mine,he got the male from CV Exotics. He bred that male to a CH female "woma",to produce this clutch.I also said that I'd been calling him a "tiger Woma" for lack of a better name, the real name is up to CV Exotics.

jyohe Nov 05, 2004 12:30 PM

pastels ahve a gene at work..not just a normal with a pattern......

I got all kinds of faded sides....half yellowish axanthic looking snakes...(IMG was said).....I got adults that look totally axanthic......banded...even brown backs.....

they are all normal.......

.......pastels are genetic.......

bubble still popped............

Of course you don't know which odd "normals" will turn out to be genetic.

When I saw the first Mojave's I wasn't all that bowled over (I think selective breeding has added genes into the lines that improves them now). However, the fact that they proved to be genetic and due to a single gene raises the question about how stunning the homozygous version will be (leucistic?).

Maybe one of the parent lines of the animal that started this thread will prove het for a much more stunning homozygous. Of course it also might not so I'm not going to bet $4,000 dollars on it but someone with that kind of money to play with might.

bachman Nov 05, 2004 03:19 PM

That one is a pastel, but the first one is normal, at least normal looking.

You people are crazy!!!

When I had it it was pretty calm but after i sold it I got calls to come help the guy with his first snake having a dry shed because he was afraid of this 4 ft snake. I got there and I was putting on gloves after watching this thing nail the glass five times in a row. He ended up selling it to some other friends of mine who wanted a normal male to breed (don't ask lol). They sold it because he would fly out of the rack at them as soon as they opened it. I feel pretty bad because they guy I got it from just couldnt take care of it any more and it was great when I had it...but now I have no idea where it is or how it is doing. And this african rock even while in shed has never attempted to bite.

Well after sitting back and reading the threads attached to this post I have mixed feelings I know how people on here can be and refrain from posting on here sometimes I put a little something up from now and then but just hate the bashing but that is beside the point I feel like I should explain the animal
and how it came about Roger is a excellent friend of mine and we have been breeding snakes for a number of years I produced this animal from breeding a male jungle to a female that everyone is calling a tiger well both are codominate that are proven The babies from this past year(I feel)have really great potential for something really exciting because not only will I be able to see the supers from the mother and father but I will hopefully hit the double co-dominate but like anything else who knows only time will tell so everyone can say what they want I know what they are and so do a couple of select few people They are not for sale and will not be until I see what super is gonna be Roger knows what he has and I know he is happy to have him and that is all that matters to me as far as calling it a woma or tiger that really doesn't mean anything to me it was only a name we use when me and my friends talk about the female that produced it the only thing left I have to say is until you do the work and know what it truly is be carefull what you say Thanks
Shane

RandyRemington Nov 06, 2004 04:04 AM

If you don't have suppers yet you haven't yet proved either parent co-dominant. Based on babies looking like both parents you may be thinking it will but it isn't proven yet. Both could be completely dominant and not produce anything better in the homozygous form or one or both could only be weekly inheritable via some complex combination of genetics, incubation environment, and chance.

How about some pictures of the two parents?

Best of luck proving them both!

jyohe Nov 06, 2004 07:55 AM

He is the one who came here posting with a cocky attitude. I have a few 50% poss het for albinos from Jyohe that look very similar.

Like I said, looks normal to me. Every Ball that has a unique pattern is not always something special (genetically speaking), but should be able to throw babies that look similar to it (not always though). Every normal Ball in the world has a different pattern, and to come up with morph names for them all is rediculous....LOL.

Get a super out of the snakes & prove us wrong. This thread reminds me of all these super duper freaks that never hatch, but yet people swear they would have hatched like that....Another LOL!

Attitude, you got some F...... attitude, I can't believe what you say to me, you got some attitude.......
