Is there anything I should know about using newspaper as a substrat. I mean, should I not use color and just use black ink printed. Is there anything that is harmful that I should know about? Thank you

I have been responding to a lot of feedback from herpers and they seem to all agree on Aspen Mulch or Cypress Mulch as a proper substrate. Newspapers, when wet, will stain the underbelly of the snake. No harmful effects with Aspen or Cypress.

Never had newspaper stain the belly of my snakes. I use newspaper for all of my snakes! Much easier to clean! When wet, put in new! When soiled, put in new! Color, B & W doesn't matter to me! Never had a problem with it. Most Breeders use newspaper! It's just the easiest to deal with!
