1 (heating) - I use human heat pads under them. Yup.
2 (sizes/types) - I have 2. One's a big ol' tub with a snap-on lid($10) apx 3'x1.5'. T'other's a storage drawer($8) apx 2'x1. Both for adults.

Do you have a thermostat or rheostat on your heting pad that you are using? If so, what do you have the setting at? High, Med, Low. I am doing the same thing, but have trouble keeping the heat up.

I just have a human pad with 3 settings. I keep them all on low - and I actually have to prop one up to keep it around 90(otherwise it gets too hot).
