Genetic Questions

What would I get if I cross a normal het albino to an albino motley cornsnake? The normal's mother produces amelanistic and creamsicle babies. No idea what the albino motley is het for.

Just wondering,
Thanks,
Jeff

Assuming no compatible hets (I think I'm going to have that tattooed on me somewhere! ), you should get:

50% normals het for motley and amel

and

50% amels het for motley

However, when you say that your normal het for amel has produced amels and creamsicles in the past, was she bred to both an amel and a creamsicle, or is your female part emoryii herself?

If your normal's mother is the one that produced amels and creams, then she is the one that is het for amel, and your snake may or may not be for the same. If your snake is het for amel (which is a 50-50 probability in itself), then the numbers I cited in the previous post are accurate. If not, you'll get

100% normals het for amel and motley

Again, though, you need to discover if your snake's mother is part emoryii, or if she was bred to one in order to make those creams about which you wrote. If she was a hybrid, your snake is too, and you would need to label all of the babies you produce as such.

Hope that helps a bit ...
