Midnight Leopard

AlteredMind99 Nov 05, 2004 12:14 AM

I have heard people refer to something called a "Midnight Leo" on here. What is this morph? Could someone post or link to a picture?

thanks

As quoting http://www.geckofreak.com/morphs.htm,
"Midnight Blizzard- A pure black hatchling derived from Blizzard parents".

A lot of people are using the term to refer to dark blizzards... so there is some disparity as to what defines a midnight. Personally, I'd wait a few years and make sure the genetics prove out and that it's reproducable, and not something like temperature related. I have also yet to see a true "black" leopard gecko as geckofreak's definition exsists. I guess I'lll wait until the it's proven linebred and true black before I get any.

Well I don't believe my female has anything to do with temp sex. That is her sister next to her so in her case I am not sure line breeding applies but I could be wrong since I don't know what parents looked like. I will be breeding her this season to a charcoal/dark blizzard male. I will keep everyone updated to what babies look like. Even after posting her pic (that has not been retouched in anyway) There are still unbelievers that they exist. I am here to say they are out there, and in very true form

Wow. Those are pretty awesome. They must cost tons, anyone have any idea how much people are charging for them?

Well mine is very dark like that also, if i took a picture in that dark of the light mine might be slightly darker. Anyhow, if i ever do get some of them out of my male i would probably sell them for cheap. Im not really in this for the money im just in it to spread leopard geckos around to everyone that wants them for a good price and not like 300 or anything. Im thinking along the lines of 100.

Well actually you know this, but i dont think any others noticed it. That photo is dark, so the gecko will appear a lot darker. So how dark is your geckos? Heres mine, its pretty dark, i dunno if its a midnight tho. The one in my signiture, the flash was pretty darn close to it so it makes it look a lot ligher. Heres a better pic tho:

The geckos are real, but I think that is an altered pic. That doesn't look like your arm.

LOL....I know it's not the best pic as regards to lighting but I think you can tell the MAJOR difference from the white blizzard compared to the black one. I will have to get an updated pics now that she is fat. My camera won't hold a charge so am trying to borrow a friends and then I will post more pics. Also to Leopardgeckoman know one is saying yours doesn't look good just it's hard to tell what it really looks like from that pic, so show us some more pics of your pretty dark leo.

I'm in no way saying that dark blizzards don't exist, since it's obvious that they do. What I am saying is that I would like to see some proven genetics behind it before I would declare it a new morph. I also think that a lot of people get a darker-looking gecko and immediately declare it a "midnight" when it's actually more of a brown. There just isn't really a definition for what makes a Midnight.

What I'd really like to see is an all black Blizzard Leopard Gecko (based off Kelli's Paradox blizzards which she claims to be proven)... it would take damn near forever to produce a solid black but it'd be cool as hell.
