Wood cage help?

DH12101 Nov 05, 2004 09:29 AM

I am building a 8x4x4 cage for my black throat, due to him completely outgrowing any tank i bought. Anyway, i have it built but i was wondering if i could screw a thin sheet of plexiglass down to the floor of the cage in order to make it easier to clean. So i was wondering if it would be safe or does it give off any kind of harmful vapors when the cage is warmed up.

Thanks

A plexiglass floor will be safe for your enclosure. However, it will not be easy to clean once the monitor scratches the heck out of it. It will also be expensive. Fiberglass Reinforced Panel (aka FRP board) will be a much better choice. In fact I'd consider lining the entire cage with it. You can find it in the showerboard section of your local home improvement center.

How much does Fiberglass Reinfoced Panel (FRP Board) usually cost?

Saw it at the Depot for 29.99 per 4'x 8' sheet.

Thanks for the info Chris. I think I titles my post wrong. More specifically, I want to make a lidless rack system for rubbermaid encosures. If you remember in my post a few weeks ago I mentioned I was going to try PVC sheets. However, I'm wondring what else could I use.
