Blue Tegu vitamins

viperbitex Nov 05, 2004 04:49 PM

Hi. I have a pair of adult blue tegus. I've been reading past messages about reds and black and whites, and their need for eatting fruit to avoid skin problems among other things. I make sure to give mine vitamins on their worms twice weekly, along with mice every three days, and cat food once weekly. Should I try to see if they will eat fruit or veggies at all? I haven't had any problems at all yet, but I would rather not find out too late that I was doing something wrong. Thanx!

Ditch the cat food; reed posts below on the subject if you have any questions. Blues can live with out fruit but it can’t hurt to offer it. Miner All I Calcium is all you really need as far as supplements go. Do a little searching on this site, Blue Tegu and Agama Int. you will find more answers to these questions and more answers to questions you haven’t even thought of asking yet.

In my opionon the best thing you can give an adult blue to help shedding is a rats/mice, they are pretty close to a complete diet. A good soak in the tub every couple of weeks never hurt either. Mineral 1 is the only suppliment I use and also prodvide herptvite(sp?) every 10 days in his food. Best of luck!
