Eye Problem!, could it be shed?

gecko_gal Nov 05, 2004 07:27 PM

Hi, I hope someone here can help. I have a beautiful healthy male adult Veiled Chameleon, he is very active & very affectionate, any way, i noticed today while he was shedding, he had white stuff in his eye, I have bathed it with water and a q tip, and I have misted his eye, but still cant get whatever it is out, it's white & looks like shed, but i dont know as it seems to not move much when i try and move it, yet i would have thought it would, if it is shed?, well, he is still bright enough, its just that he closes his eye from time to time now.
I dont know what else to do, i was thinking in attempting to remove the stuff with tweezers, but i would have to be incredibly careful!
Will i have to take him to the Vets?

My guess (note GUESS) is that it is skin and that it will come off soon. Keep misting him and keep the humidity high. Trying lightly dabbing it with a q-tip again and soon it should come off. Sometimes it takes a few days for all the skin to fall off. If the eye looks healthy otherwise (not infected or oozing) it's probably just skin. Keep and eye on it though.

Thank you so kindly for your reply*
Yes it turned out to just be shed!, I spent ages misting, then dabbing, while holding him in my arms, he was such a good brave boy with me, and finally it was gone!.
Thank God for that!*
