ultrasonic foggers

alanvines Jun 30, 2003 08:06 AM

does anyone have an ultrasonic fogger? I was just wondering how much space they would fog. I want one in my Jackson's greenhouse but dont think it would generate enough fog to matter. I have researched it but cant find out how much space they fog. thanx

im not sure how much they fog but you could use a humidifire that most have in there homes.....a portable one i mean.

I have an old one that has two knobs that you can turn one for how high you want the humidity to be and one for how thick you want the mist to come out....if you turn both up all the way it shoots a thick fog out that can fill a normal room with a haze.

I have a heat humidifier, it just puts out too much heat, I have to mist often, which is fine, it just leaves mineral deposits on the plants, which I hate. Was that a run-on sentence or what? lol.
Does your ultrasonic fogger have one electro plate-set or several? Is it one of those foggers used to fumigate a room with insectidides? Those are not really the same, but I've been looking into those too. If yours is an old fumigator type (you put the water in it instead of it in the water} is it loud??
anywho, thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it, you are great!!!!

i guess it was a run on....i dont like to use periods for sentences i us them to separate ideas inside sentences

anyways mine has a plastic box that you fill with water then you flip it upside down and put it on the base of the machine...there is a tub type thing that the ultrasonce waves are made and above that there is a long chamber to condense the fog and build it up so then it can have the mist sortof shoot out a nozle at the top...

I hope that wasn't too confusing anyways it is sort of small and i think my parents used when i was little (im 16 now) so i could breath when i had a cold or something im not sure.

it isnt very loud and if you want like a carpet of fog on the ground this wont do that it makes the entire place hazy but you can still see every thing.

also i have heard the the ones that you have to put into water aren't very good for large open areas like a screen cage...they are mor for frog inclosures like dart frogs.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm, thats what I thought. They really should say how much space they will "fog". thanks for the reply chams, do you have a real name???

The humidifier may not fill a greenhouse with actual fog, but it will pump a lot of moisture into the air depending on how long you set it to run and how often. If you want this to provide actual condensed drinking water it probably won't do that, but it will humidify the air well, especially if your greenhouse is full of plants that get regular watering anyway.

there is plenty of water for the chams to drink, I have a drip hose and mist often. In the outside cage, by the way, I use a rodent waterer, the one with the steel ball in the tip and the resevoir of water above. It works great by the way, the cham uses it often and even pushes the ball in with his tongue like a mammal or bird. I wonder if others know what a good way this is to supply water to chams. All you have to do is make sure a drop of water if visible at the tip til the cham sees it.
I just wanted to be able to "fog" the whole greenhouse, that would be awesome.
