Reptarium and heating pads question

tbailey Nov 06, 2004 11:22 AM

I have two California Kingsnakes in two 38 gallon Reptariums. I just put them together today. My heating pads almost immediatly came unstuck. What do I need to do to make them work? So far I have them sitting on a plank between the plank and the cage. The instructions with the Reptarium say you can use pads but what is the secret?

It sounds like you're trying to stick an adhesive heating element to the outside of the screen part of the Reptarium? If so I would recommend sticking the heating pad to something else like an appropriately sized piece of 1/8" plexiglass and set that under the Reptarium. Beware though that Reptariums don't hold any heat in. If your room is too cool and there is no other heat source then your snakes may spend all their time above the heating pad which is generally not good.
