Size of enclosure/size of snake

I'm hoping that one of you will comment about whether or not the size of the container will have any effect on the growth of the animal contained. I have a friend who insisted that I was keeping my hatchling bulls in too small of containers. She said that I would see quicker, healthier growth if they had room to excercise in their box. So I did move them from sweater box size to blanket box size. Is there any merit to her argument? They are this years' babies and seemed to be growing quite well where they were. Thanks, guys.

In general, I find that neonates do better in smaller enclosures. I think they feel more secure and are less stressed. Baby snakes don't go in much for exercising anyway, they spend most of their time hiding.

For larger snakes, a good rule of thumb is that the combined length of one side plus one end of the cage should be at least as much as the length of the snake (or something close to it).
