Update on Ozzy's toe injury...........and other things

Iguanamom Nov 07, 2004 01:02 AM

Hi everyone. Ozzy seems to be recovering well from the dog nipping the end of his toe off. I did as i was instructed by the emergency vet clinic, and that was to basically leave it alone. It looks pretty good, no swelling and no signs of infection. There is still a bit of the bone showing, but im keeping a close eye on the situation, the vet said the skin would grow back over it. He doesnt seem to be bothered by it at all. He is still in breeding season ugh. The main signs im seeing is his appetite decrease, he will only eat blueberrys and cantalope it seems. Picks around everything else. I tried to put some t-rex calcium powder on his food, as the vet suggested, would be good with him having a injury right now. Well no way he refuesed to touch the food, this is the main reason i dont use suppliments with ozzy, he has always detested them. The other sign is he is constantly trying to escape his cage, and is very very active. Anyway due to the accident happening with the dog, we have decided to move ozzy out of the living room. I hate to do it, but i cant take a chance of something like this happening again. So we will be moving his cage to our bedroom tomorrow. Today we spent many hours redesigning it again, this is like the 4th redesign i think lol. So we had lots of free roam time today, which went pretty good overall. Also got a bath, which he still isnt all too impressed with. I look like i have been in battle though. Scratches all up and down my arms. But thankfully he seemed so sweet today, was acutally wanting my attention i think. Then we finally got the cage semi-finished, enough so he could go back in it. Well i went to move him to put some newpapers up where his basking area is, and he actually head bobbed at me. In the 3 years i have had ozzy he has never bobbed, never. So i was kind of excited to see him do it. But i think he was really telling me, mom im back in my cage, im tired(was past his normal bedtime), and just leave me alone. But it was one of those real quick up and down bobbs. But then he almost acted like he was going to bite me, which hasnt happend since he was a baby. But in light of everything that was going on today, and the fact he is in season, i decided to just leave him be. But i just cant believe it he finally head bobbed lol. Well thanks for listening to me ramble. Tami
