Sore on corn PLEASE HELP!

Diamondback-dave Nov 07, 2004 01:48 AM

Heres a pic of the bad sore on my snow corn, 2 days after a shed. I've been medicating it for about 2 weeks now and it seems to have gotten worst. Now theres a small spot on her neck and toward the base of her tail. Gonna have to take her to the vet but was wondering if anyone knew what it might be, if cancerish i will have her put down.

I havent seen many corns with sores on top. There normally from burns or rodent bites.I can tell it's not that.I would take your corn to the vet.If you have any other snakes keep them away from your corn and keep your hands washed.Let us know what you find out...Paul

That is a bad sore, I would say a rodent bite but I am sure you would know that if you had live rodents left in the cage. It could be a burn if it did accidently brush against an explosed bulb. Any sharp points (rocks, logs etc) in the cage he may have rubbed against?

If none of the above, any crickets in the cage? Crickets can do alot of damage if left in a cage without any other food source other than the snake. Seen similar wounds on bearded dragons but it would be weird if there are crickets in the snake cage since corns don't eat crickets.

Ulcers could be it too, or a really nasty mite bite that has been rubbed raw by the snake. But again mites would be noticeable if looked for. Vet check may be the only solution.
