incubation Temps....

Demon_Hunter Jun 30, 2003 09:43 AM

Hi there,

The other day I was thinking of crocodilians when suddenly I remembered that incubation temperatures have alot to do with the sex of the baby crocodile. So I was wondering if this happens to chameleons too. Oh, another question... Does anyone have an idea as to why we are supposed to separate the eggs at least an inch apart? I heard this prevents mass hatching and gives you better hatching percent.

by separating the eggs an inch apart, it minimizes the chance that mold might spread if one egg happens to grow mold.

we've incubated at room temps for veils (on the advice of a fellow breeder i know) and are having great luck- two just hatched!! their huge!. They take longer to hatch (laid November 29- hatching0 TODAY) but the eggs are much larger. The breeder i know says he has much less loss after hatch with the lower incubating temps.
