Yellow eyed Redfoot

rattay Nov 07, 2004 12:06 PM

Here is a picture of a young male in my group with the yellow eyes described in a post below. This seems to be more common with the cherryhead variety although I've seen a columbian with similar traits.

I don't know of any other tort species that have this physical trait. The variation can be from white to gold in color and can be just thin lines to almost the entire eye (except the dark dot in the center - like this specimen).

What color would you call these.. my Alpha male redfoot has??

Hadn't really paid that much attention until Carly pointed them out. So I had to go out today to get him to pose for us.

Thanks again Carly!

You gotta love 'em!

... do their eyes ever change color as they age (like cats or people)? and is eye color a trait, as with people, that they pass along to their offspring?

the eye variety is definitely a neat trait for this species!
