Could an experianced anole owner please clearify the lighting needed for a green anole I'm just really confused about it!
You will need two types of light. A UVA/UVB fluorescent to aid calcium absorption and a regular incandescent for heat. The incandescent should be placed over a basking area (a branch, etc.) so that the temperature at that area is about 90 degrees. You should place the UVA/UVB light over an area where they can bask under it where they are about 12 inches from the light source. Remember UV radiation will NOT penetrate glass of Plexiglass.n
UVB doesn't go through glass either. Just to point out, so it has to be on top of some sort of screen. And putting the cage in front of a window doesn't work.
Good luck with your anoles!
