any ideas on this one?

hummi22689 Nov 07, 2004 06:21 PM

A friend of mine rescued a corn snake and was trying to figure out what kind of corn it is. I think it may be a hybrid. Any ideas?

With all of the corn color morphs out there, it is really hard to say. But it looks like this may have been part of a butter breeding project. But when it comes to the different color morphs, I dont get into them much. Maybe someone on the corn forum can better answer this one.
Sorry I couldnt be of a much help on this one.
Brian
p.s. hows the little one doing that was stuck to the glue trap?

The glue trap snake is doing a whole lot better. He still has a little bit of glue on him, but it is not affecting him in any way. After I was told he was a water snake, I offered him guppies and he ate 3 of them immediately. He is a mean litle thing now, but can't blame him. He comes ofter my hand whenever I pt it in his enclosure. Puts on quiet a display for such a little fellow

I could agree with either response. The head looks kind of cornsnakeish but the body looks like a gophersnake.

Can you take a better picture of the head?

This snake belongs to a friend of mine and I am waiting for more pics. I am probably going to end up getting this one from him and then I will be able to provide lots of pics.

here is the best I can get on the head shot for now. Said belly is solid yellow, if that helps any.

Greg Longhurst Nov 07, 2004 09:22 PM

From your first pic, I was thinking albino Pituophis. With the belly being un-marked, that should rule out any corn snake morph.

That isn't a corn snake, it is definitely some form of albino gophersnake/bullsnake.

Post the pic on the pituophis forum and they will be able to tell you what subspecies probably by the color pattern.
