When I was researching habitats I read that you can have up to two anoles in a 10 gal tank. I have a green and a brown anole in my 10 gal tank and they have gotten along for about a year now. When I was younger I had two anoles in a 10 gal tank and I remember them lasting for a number of years. I wouldn't recommend more than two though.
Two will be fine as long as only one of them is a male.
For a 10 gallon, I wouldn't recommend more than one - that's not a lot of space to live in. A 20 gallon would be better.

And several miscellaneous community fish

I agree. If one must put two anoles in a 10, I would go with two females.
At least 20 for a male and a female.
.5 anoles.

Personally, I think anoles are too active for 10-gallons, so the "half" is just silliness, but I would definitely not go with more than one, if even.
