lethargic beardie - LONG!

karenb Nov 07, 2004 07:39 PM

I have a beardie that is approximately 6-7 years old (I have lost track of when I first got him). When the weather starts to cool off, he will usually crawl under a rock a "hibernate" for a couple of months. We have had a couple of cold nights here (Dallas area), but the strange thing is that he is usually under the warm lights when he "hibernates" and he has been on the "cool" side for about a week now. The other strange thing is that it has warmed back up somewhat outside. He isn't eating either, which is normal anyway when he is hibernating. I just want to make sure he is hibernating and it is not his age that is making him act like he is. By the way, he normally stays outside in his outside cage for most of the summer soaking up the sun's rays. He didn't get to do much of that this summer since we had rain most of the summer. I have a good UV bulb in his cage that is brand new. Anyone have any sugestions?

turn off the warm lights. the shouldnt be on when a dragon is trying to hybernate. when a dragon hybernates it shouldnt be moving much. it shouldnt be eating and it shouldnt be basking.
