Can Ackies live in a rack system?
Not if you want them to live long. Ackies need space, lots of dirt, hides, hot basking spots, logs, cork bark... They are very active, digging, climbing, basking all the time. I call them my interior decorator monitors, as they are always making new tunnels, pushing cork bark around to suit them, crawling through their water bowls and just generally having a great time. A rack system would be intolerable and inhumane. If you need to use a rack system, get snakes, not monitors.
Pam
if you mean a rack such as a slide out rubbermaid tub into a simple book shelf design, then NO
if you mean some sort of custom built rack system that is more like cages built on top of one another, then YES
I have seen freedom breeders that have been custom made and converted over to housing small monitors such as ackies.
I have also seen metalstock tanks slid into a 2x4 framing used as a rack system to house small monitors such as ackies.
So again I'd have to ask what you mean when you say rack system?
