new collared issue....

breakfastatme Jun 30, 2003 10:27 AM

One of my new collareds is not happy. He hides in the log all the time. I sprayed the tank last night and there are holes in the log so I sprayed it also. I could see him drinking (thank goodness) But he isn't coming out. I haven't seen him eat either. The other one with the orange strips is eating and doing very well. They are very young and only about 5 inches with their tails. I am feeding mealworms and wax worms. I tried crix and they were not interested in them.

Any advice.

Well, one thing you might try is offering them some interesting food, like moths or spiders. It may just be an extreme case of boredom.

I am afraid to feed them any insect wild caught. I am worried that the insects could have ingested something poisonous. I am such a girl, I know, but I worry about this stuff.

What do you guys/ girls think?

for awhile, alittle stressed, hide, don't eat, he will probably be fine after a small amount of time, when he gets used to his new home, seems to me the females adjust quicker, mine have anyway, give it time. He will eat, and yes moths may stimulate him, just turn on an outside light at night get a small net, bug net, fish net, something and catch a few moths. As far as the pinky thing can't help ya on that, I NEVER do that ! Hope hes fine soon ! They are very nice, does SHE have a name yet? Eve

The girl is Bonita ("pretty" in Spanish) and the boy is "Race car". It took my son a while to name these two. But he did it on his own

I got Racecar to eat two wax worms tonight. He spit them out so I tried again and he ate it and took the second one on his own. Yaaaa, but we will see tomorrow. (fingers crossed, toes crossed. eyes crossed

Thanks again!!
