fighting juvie cresties

Lazor1 Nov 07, 2004 11:15 PM

Was wanting to know if it was common for 2 juvies to occasionally
bite at each other? Seems to happen when fed crickets, sometimes trying to take cricket from the other. Also if one is on its spot on a limb and the other trys to get in that spot.
Not sure of sex of either yet as they are too young to tell.
I really am hoping i dont have to seperate them because of lack of space.
Would just like some opinions.
Thanks

Try putting more "cover" in your enclosure - like some plastic leaves, or a piece of egg carton - anything that will give them a little artificial "space" from each other.

That ought to do the trick.

How old are your juvies? If you cannot put them into a larger enclosure, and if adding "cover" doesn't do it, you may have to separate them unless you are prepared for injuries. I had 3 2-3 month olds together once, all the same size, and one systematically chewed the tips off of the other 2's tails!! I thought he was just picking on the one after the first injury, but then caught him the second time (second victim) when the "victim"'s screams woke me up! Both lost their tail-pads. The perp was a male, the other 2 ended up being 1 female & 1 male.
