When you get Eggs, what do you do with them?

viper69 Nov 07, 2004 11:55 PM

I have a m/f pair of Mossy's. It is possible that I might get eggs. If I get one, and find it in the moss in the morning or at night etc...What do I do with it? I have plenty of vermiculite..

Second, does everyone use an incubator to hatch their eggs out?

Aside from that I really wouldn't know what to do.

well, i kinda ran into eggs accidentally when i got my first female. i didnt really know what to do with the eggs, so at first i left them in the enclosure. figuring that crickets would sooner or later have their peck at the eggs, i built a tiny cube out of 2 inch square pieces of screen patches. put some peat moss at the bottom and left it in with the parents since that the way it would normally be. it worked for me, but next eggs i get will more than likely be placed in vermiculite. im getting practice with some crested gecko eggs doing this. it seems easy. so no i did not use an incubator and i was still successful. if my satanics had eggs again i would do it the same way (since the eggs are so tiny), but any other species i will probably use the vermiculite.

So do you bury the eggs?
Do you let them sit on top of the vermiculite?
And how moist do you keep them?
My tank average temps are about 72-75/day...and drop to about 70 at night at the most.
