I just puchased a map turtle from florida. When I purchased him he was in great shape and even was eating. I kept him in a small plastic box in the motel room with a half inch if water.
I transported him home in a plastic carrying box with a little water in it. After I arrived home to place him in my tank I noticed both eyes were shut tight. He is swimming around and very active in the tank, even basking but he still has both eyes shut tight. I can see his eyes though his transparent lids.
He was in the car for 17 hours in the shade and kept out of the sun ect with AC on. Other then his eyes being shut he is very active and exploring the tank. Any answers to the closed eyes?

Thanks!

Dave
