ElectroD3ize

chamsrcool Nov 08, 2004 08:24 AM

has anyone use the product electord3ize? supposidly you add it to the water a reptile drinks to replenise electrolites and helps with D3 absorbtion. now i have started giving my cham water with an eye dropper becuase he doesn't seem to respond to normal methods.

the eydropper method is working great and i know he is hydrated becuase is urin is no long a white colors blob but now a white puddle.....i know sort of gross but a year or so ago we had almost a page taken up taking about one chams poop.( i think it was lele's cham not positive)

anyways is it possible to add to much of this stuff to the water? or cuase and electrolite imbalance?
anyone know if this could be bad to use?

oh i got it for free so it wasn't a waste of money but will be if harms my cham.

Gee, why does Luna's poop get blamed? LOL! I had to laugh b/c it think it WAS her poop!! I was going thru digi-photos this weekend to zip-up and gain some space on my computer - and there it was - a close up of POOP!!!

As for the Electrolize...I have the one that does not have the D3 but I only use(d) it when I knew she was getting dehydrated - like after laying. I am not sure about giving too much but if he is drinking on his own (dropper or other) I wouldn't use it too much. Others may know more and offer other info so wait to hear from them, too.

btw, when I was first on this forum I recall a thread on poop and thought it was so funny that folks began to post pix of their cham's poop for comparison! But it is a good key to overall health.

save your money and get some Pedia-lyte (it's for young children that get dehydrated and available at your supermarket) or you can even use Gatorade...now before anyone (lele) says you shouldn't use gatorade because it has sugar in it, pedialyte also contains sugar...i'm guessing the sugar is what speeds the electrolytes into the system...good luck

Hey don't be jumpin' on me boy! )

I think gatorade, etc. would have higher levels of sugar. But hey, I don't know. What I do know is that once pedialyte is opened its shelf life is short. One way or another this should be short term and not a regular part of daily watering so sugar shouldn't be an issue...just my 2 cents

Here's a recipe for homemade so it can be made on an as needed basis.

I have some gatorade right here! I use the powdered forms that you mix with water, so you can make it as you need it. (For biking, not chams.) 8 fluid ounces of gatordade has 60 cals, 110mg of sodium, 30mg of potassium, 15 grams of carbs, and 14 grams of sugar. I thought maybe Powerade would have less sugar in it as it seems to taste less sugary, but for 8 fluid ounces of Powerade there are 70 cals, 25mg of sodium, 30mg potassium, 18g of carbs, and 18 grams of sugar. Keep in mind that Powerade calls for slightly more powder (1 slightly rounded scoop) than Gatorade (3/4 of a scoop). Powerade also contains 10% each of Niacin, B6 and B12.

I know these are horribly unexact meausurments, (i'm not sure how many tablespoons are in a scoop, though both scoops look similar in size), but it can give you idea. Sorry, no Pedialite to compare to.

i've used it as a quick fix...obviously not for long term use...after using gatorade my cham rushed for 125 yards on 18 carries and scored 2 touchdowns leading the Dallas Cowboys to a resounding victory over the divisional perenial celler dwelling New York Giants
