yeah, you can do that, or you could also put some tape, sticky side up, across the top of your cage. the next time your cat gets up there, s/he is gonna end up balled up in tape. its halarious to watch, but i dont like cats either so... they'll soon learn to stay off the cage.

The spraying will work but not all the time. Just be very careful with cats, lizards are a natural prey for them. This is not the case for all cats though but it is always good to be safe rather than sorry. I would make sure the cage in shut tight so a curious cat doesn't try to get to visit your beardies. Also I would make it a habit not to leave any animal unattended around your cage. You never know what could happen.

I suggest keeping the cats away from the dragons completely. Other posters here have had cats get into a cage and attack and injure their bearded dragons. Cats can get through screen if they really want to. Even if the cat can't get into the cage, having it there can be very stressful for your dragons.
I suggest locking the cats out of the room the dragons are in completely.

When I posted a similiar question a few weeks ago, I didn't get many responses and the ones that I did said that their beardies are fine in rooms where cats have access to the tank area. So I moved my tank into the living room and my roommate's cat hangs around the tank sometimes, especially when sam is feeling lively or hunting. It seemed to bother him for an hour or two and then he got used to the sight of the cat, and she is too stupid (i say this with all love for this cat) to even figure out what the beardie is and what the tank is!
I say the tape idea is good, keep the cats off the top of the tank, but your beardie will get used to the sight and continue behaving normally, but watch your beardie carefully, if they stop eating or something, then keep the cats away and locked out.
