just wondering about these as you see lots of beardies with them...is it simply a cosmetic problem (their looks) or are there other problems that can come up?

After it heals it's usually just cosmetic. There is a risk of infection when it happens though.

okay, bc im considering buying a dragon and i love the color, size, sex, of this dragon but it has a tail nip...what kind of effect would you say that a nip has on the price?
Depends on how bad the nip is, but usually it's a pretty big effect like 1/2 or 1/3 of original price.

The nip itself won't cause the dragon any problems. It is infection afterwards that can cause problems. If the nip is fully healed and the rest of the tail looks healthy (isn't dried up or black, swollen and/or red with any discharge) then there isn't any worries. If it doesn't look good, then I would be very hesitant buying the dragon for any price. Even if most of the tail is gone, shouldn't be any problems, providing the injury healed well and there is no infection inside.

Ok guys, here is the dragon that is being discussed. He is a very nice bright orange. I have never had nips before this year, and then this one bad dragon nipped the tails of all the babies in his tub and then turned the nip on himself. I seperated him immediatly so none of the nips are really bad, its just the very tip.
So, I don't have a lot of experiance with nips. But I read above that a nip should discount the price 1/3 or 1/2. Well.. am I asking too much ($110)? I have sold the female that was nipped and did not really discount her at all.
I can see that regular dragons would lose value VERY quickly if nipped because they are very common, but does the 1/3-1/2 rule cover high colored dragons too? Opinions appriciated.

Also. For Wake42s benefit, would you go with the nipped dragon or the other with no nips for the same price.

are you saying buy the nipped one? sorry sean im confused now Lol
YES!!! Buy the nipped one. The colors are much better than the other one. The nip isn't that bad and looks healed. It should present no problems in the future. IMO, it is going to be an awsome adult.
