shedding problemo

ReptiKH24 Nov 08, 2004 11:29 AM

last week my 2yr old female shed. but there was skin left around her head so i had to assist her. i mosistened the skin and carefully got most of it off, except a little on both eye lids. i cleared 1 eye but the other one i couldnt get that skin off. its right on the eye lid, not covering her eye in any way. she still eats fine. lol, it was so funny cause she knew i was helping her out. she was sooo calm and didnt move at all. will it come off in the next shed since the old skin will come off under the skin on there now? just a little concerned for my little girl. ty

I had a similar problem. Wet her skin with warm water and give it a min or two to soak. See if you can get alittle piece of the skin to come lose with your nail. Then take your eyebrow pluckers (if you got them) and grab the loose piece of skin, slowly puling it off, add more and more warm water to help assist. Your leo won't like it too much but it'll appeciate the help

if its on her eye you really want to try to get it off. It might come off with the next shed, but it just as likely won't, and will only serve to compound the problem and possibly impact her sight. Dry skin on an eyelid can scratch the lens (or cornea, or hatever), but when this happened to on of mine, my vet said get it off

i managed to get most of it off today, but there is still a tiny piece on the inside of her eye lid. its not in any way blocking her eye sight though. well, thanks for the help. hopefully that tiny piece will come off in the next shed cause its impossible for me to remove it. i cant work that close to the eye.
