Yellow Speckled Tree Monitor pics

odatriad Nov 08, 2004 05:41 PM

Here is a pic of my male Varanus boehmei, the Yellow Speckled Tree Monitor. It is unfortunate that many of the few boehmei keepers have managed to kill their animals off. Not too many animals here in the states to found a cb stock.

They are definately one of my favorite monitors. I am unaware of any being imported within the last year or so.

Hey Robert,

The pic of the embryo, is part of my study of monitor embryonic development. I have been cutting my macraei eggs open every 40 days. This egg is at the 120 day mark. It's really interesting to see the progression through the weeks. Cheers Robert,

bob

AHHHHHHHH !!! Why? Wouldnt it be better to hatch them first then cut open F2 when you have more to play with? There your eggs and your decission but... wow
Thanks,
Robert

haha... of course I wouldn't just cut my eggs open.... This was the egg that was laid in the water. From the start it never looked the same as the others, but it continued to develop and increase in size just as the other eggs did. THis egg started sweating, and then noticeably died, so I cut it open, to reveal a dead embryo inside.. pretty stinky, too... Don't worry, the other three eggs in the first clutch are doing great, as are the two in the second clutch. I'll keep everyone posted on what transpires in the next month or so... hopefully it will be good news... Cheers robert,

Sorry, i had to get a laugh in, it's been a while for me...hahaha.. Take care robert,

bob

Bob I know of a few keeping groups of them ranging from a pair to multiple pairs.

There are enough here to see captives be produced, how many get produced is upto those working with them.
