help colorado DOW crazy

siscolee Nov 08, 2004 06:25 PM

hello all
I've got a problem I live in colorado and was going to try to get a alligator license. On the colorado department of wildlife web page it's says you can get one. So I called them up today to find out how to get one and this is what I was told "In Colorado you are not allowed to keep wildlife. You would not receive any type of license to keep an alligator anywhere in the State of Colorado"

Does anyone know about the laws in Colorado? For some reason this woman really annoyed me she also told me to look at the website which says you can have one. also is a captive bred animal still considered wildlife?
thank you
Rafael

The ONLY people I know in Colorado with alligator permits were grandfathered in.

You're going to need a REALLY good reason, if you want to convince them to give you a permit. And then you probably still won't get one.

I'm not sure what Noah is going to tell anyone... They were grandfathered, as the gator farm had alligators before the law was put into place. Their "Reptilian Adventure" is about 6 blocks from my house. Not exactly the nicest place I have ever been to. It sure would be nice to see them learn how to take care of their animals...

You must be the one who sent the "19 ft" retic to them...

I assure you they take excellent care of their animals or I wouldn't have let them take care of mine for awhile. I make unannounced visits all the way from Oregon and have always found the cages clean and tidy. Iris, my retic is fat and healthy. Thay are caring for several of my animals and I am very happy.
I don't know what your beef is with them, be specific.
