Mating Hets Albinos Question

jgriffi Nov 08, 2004 08:40 PM

I have a pair of hets for albino that I plan on putting together. I bought them 2yrs ago as babies and have brought them along slowly and now am ready to breed them. She is 1,927.8 gr and he is 1,065.9 gr. To you guys think that they are ready and I should get 2 albinos fromo the group.. I heard so many say they get none for a couple of tries with their het albinos so I am claiming 2 from mine if they produce at least 5 eggs for me. Any suggestions on breading, I'm lowering the temps at night and putting them slightly up during the day. He just shed today and she is gettig ready to shed. I will continue to feed them until about the end of this month or until they stop eating.
Thanks for the help.
Griff

Your pair is of good size. My hets took a long time to get up to speed. I bought them in 2000 and they were almost a year old. They did go until 2003 and I hatch 7 babies from 6 eggs, but no albinos. However, they were 2.5 so lots of females to hold back and work from. This year I am breeding her again and hope for more eggs since she nearly doubled in size (1500g to 3000g) and her one daughter is right at around 1400-1500g.

Odds are a killer so be patient and keep trying.
