I have two argus monitors the smaller ?female? began getting un top of the males back and scratching him (it looked like she was trying to mount the male). this happened the first day i put them together. Now they take turns mounting each other.Could this mean she's a he. they both have thick tail bases and hemipenal bulgess. Any help would be apreciated.

Females, other males, and female mount males, and other females. If they are hemipene bulges they may be both male because males have hemipenes, but females have hemiclitori that are a bit smaller and in most cases shorter. Male argus usually get much larger. Its hard to tell without having them properly sexed. Its probably dominance, they mount anything, its their way of settling whos in charge or who owns the property.

Is there anyway to sex them acuratly? The male everts his himipeni when he deficates but I have not seen the female deficate. I've been warned against probing and haven't gone that route, is there any other way to sex them for certain?
Thank you for your imput on my first Question.
